The Insurance companies are very powerful in Florida and will not hesitate to get you arrested for filing a false insurance claim. This is a real problem because often other people have a financial interest in having you submit a false claim. For example, Lawyers are now advertising for people to make claims against the BP Oil Company Settlement. The temptation is great when people as now are in hard times. There is also a great incentive for the personal injury lawyer to inflate or falsely state the degree of your injury to increase your settlement or for the Chiropractor or Doctor to bill the PIP carrier for visits or injuries that do not exist or are grossly exaggerated. The bottom line is they come after you, not the Doctors and Lawyers.
Being Accused of Staging Accidents
Insurance Fraud is also committed when accidents or claims are staged. Did you know that the insurance companies get your cell phone records to see if you knew the person you ran into? Did you know they try and prove that the accident was planned to collect insurance. They also look into accidents with rental vehicles because of the high limits on the insurance. They also look into prior accidents and injuries. in recent news big rigs or semis are being targeted for the commerical insurance potential. Do not get caught up in these illegal insurance fraud rings.
Arson and Insurance Fraud
Insurance fraud also exists when it comes to claims on damage to your home for things like water damage and mold damage. Some people who are upside down in their homes set fire to them for the insurance. You can be prosecuted and sent to jail for Arson and Insurance Fraud.
